I catalog hundreds of new picture books each year, and I read as many of them as I can. Unfortunately, I can’t review them all. But I can share them! Below are a few recent titles. (Summaries have been taken directly from the books whenever possible.) Check your local library or bookstore for availability.
There’s a lot of blue in the covers this week!

Petra believes she is a mountain, but discovers she might be something else entirely.

A guidebook for every big brother or big sister dinosaur on how to help teach the new baby everything.

When a beloved tree gets sick, the human and animal communities work together to give it a new life.

Clever middle child, Cliffy, decides to stay in his cozy, flannel pajamas all day.

When an oil slick threatens to harm the penguins, some well-meaning humans knit them sweaters to keep them safe and warm

A child yearns for a horse. Lovely!

Elmore is lonely and decides to come up with a way to make friends with the other animals. Adorable in both story and pictures!

Claudia is disappointed when winter comes and there are no more butterflies around that she can paint. Love the art!

Two siblings make a snowbear then go sledding. Cute art!

Rabbit works hard to rescue her friend Possum who’s stuck up a tree. Cute story!
These books sound adorable. And, I love their covers.

I’m really excited to read these. I saw Elmore in the library and fell in love with those illustrations! I showed it to my daughter and she promptly turned it down for a book with a robot turtle monster. Sigh. True story. But I loved Elmore. 🙂

One of my favorites of the bunch! Maybe she’ll change her mind in the near future and give it a chance. Although the robot turtle sounds fun too! 🙂
